Common questions

Where does the data come from?

Real people confirming what they see at the door. Tempo blends those reports with a calibrated busyness model trained on each venue's history, so the first report seeds an estimate and every subsequent check-in sharpens it.

Why iOS only, for now?

Live Activity, Dynamic Island, and the kind of low-overhead background location we use to detect arrivals are iOS-native. Android is on the roadmap but it's a different feature set, not a port.

Is my location ever sold?

No. Tempo never sells location data. We use your location only to surface the closest spots and to detect when you've arrived at a saved venue — both run on-device, both are toggleable.

How is this different from Google's "popular times"?

Google's popular times is a historical model. Tempo is the live wait — what people in line right now are reporting. The two answers are often very different on a Friday at 8 PM.

What does Tempo Pro cost?

$4.99 a month, or $39.99 a year — the same price for everyone. Both start with a 7-day free trial and you can cancel anytime in Settings.

Can I get Pro features without paying?

Some of them. Report waits that other people confirm and you earn Tempo Green, which lifts the caps on saved places, alerts and lookups for free. Qualify in one month and Green stays active through the end of the next.
