Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you give us
- Account information: name, email address, neighborhood, and profile photo (if you choose to add one).
- Check-in data: venues you check in at, the wait time or crowd level you report, timestamps, and optional photos.
- Feedback and reports: messages you send through the in-app feedback form, including your contact email if provided.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Location data: with your permission, we use your device location to show nearby venues and detect when you arrive at a venue. Precise location is used only while the app is in use unless you explicitly opt in to background location.
- Device information: a random device identifier (not your Apple ID), app version, OS version, and basic device model for bug reports and crash analytics.
- Usage data: anonymous event logs (e.g., "a check-in was submitted") with no personal content attached.
1.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not access your contacts, photos outside the app's camera flow, messages, or calendar.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or ad trackers.
- We do not sell personal information to any third party.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Show real-time wait times and venue information on the map.
- Calculate the leaderboard and award achievements for your check-ins.
- Send you notifications you opt into (e.g., "Wait time dropped at Joe's Pizza").
- Moderate user-generated content and investigate reports of abuse.
- Fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.
3. Who Can See Your Content
Your display name, neighborhood, and public check-ins are visible to other Tempo users. Your email address, precise location history, and device information are never shown to other users. You can hide yourself from the leaderboard in Settings → Privacy → Leaderboard Visibility.
4. Your Choices and Controls
- Toggle anything off: every data collection behavior in Tempo is controlled by a toggle in Settings → Privacy.
- Delete your data: request server-side deletion at any time via Settings → Privacy → Delete All My Data.
- Delete your account: permanently close your account via Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. This is immediate and irreversible.
- Block other users: long-press any user on the leaderboard or photo to block them; their content disappears for you and they can't see yours.
- Report abuse: long-press any piece of content and tap Report. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
- Email us: reach out to privacy@skipthewait.app for any request, including GDPR/CCPA rights (access, portability, correction, erasure).
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where law requires longer retention (e.g., tax records).
6. Children's Privacy
Tempo is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
7. Third-Party Services
Tempo uses the following processors under strict data processing agreements:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage (EU and US regions).
- Apple Push Notification Service — delivering notifications.
- MapKit and Apple Weather — map tiles and weather data.
These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to us.
8. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest) and row-level security on all user-scoped tables. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovery as required by law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We'll post material changes here and, for significant changes, notify you in-app before they take effect.
